A Speeding Ticket, a Deep Breath, and a Good Reminder

Hi Beautiful Humans,
I got a speeding ticket this week.
Yep. Me. (I typically drive like a Grandma with cars speeding past me)
Fifteen years, squeaky clean driving record… and then… 62 in a 50. 🙃
Was it annoying? Yes.
Was it expensive? Also yes.
Did I consider dramatically questioning all of my life choices for about 3 minutes? Obviously.
Was I mad at the cop? Duh! 😤 😂
But then something really important clicked — and I wanted to share it with you.
Because this is real life work. Not theory. Not perfect Instagram quotes.
Real moments where we get to decide who we are going to be.
Here’s what I know:
Circumstances don’t get to decide our peace.
They don’t get to decide our mood.
They don’t get to decide the quality of our day.
Old patterns would have sounded like:
“Ugh. Of course this happens to me.”
“This just ruined my day.”
“Now everything feels off.”
But the version of me I’ve worked hard to become sounds more like:
“Okay. That happened. I’m still okay. My day is still mine.”
And honestly? That felt like a win bigger than the ticket felt like a loss.
Growth isn’t about never having frustrating things happen.
Growth is about how quickly we return to ourselves when they do.
So if something small (or big) has happened in your world lately —
A surprise bill
A weird email
A hard conversation
A plan that didn’t go how you wanted
Here’s your reminder:
You are still safe.
You are still capable.
You are still in charge of your energy.
You are still allowed to have a really good day anyway.
Sometimes personal power looks like breath work, journaling, or big breakthroughs.
And sometimes… it looks like paying a ticket, grabbing a coffee, and choosing peace anyway.
Cheering you on always.
Jessica
P.S. If you needed permission today to not let something steal your joy… consider this it. 💛
